I wasn’t aware of Van Halen ’s debut album when it came out in 1978, but I did become aware of it some years later at a time when the consideration of albums, and CDs, was still made with a sense of the whole.
Van Halen (/ v æ n ? h e? l ? n / van HAY-len) was an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1974. Credited with restoring hard rock to the forefront of the music scene, Van Halen was known for its energetic live shows and for the virtuosic talent of its prodigy lead-guitarist, Eddie Van Halen . The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
